With the structural extensions completed, the next step is to install the new flooring onto the now uniformly 11-inch deep treads. Simultaneously, new risers are installed to cover the vertical face of each step, concealing the added lumber and providing a clean, finished look. Special attention should be given to creating a 'bull nose' return on the front edge of the bottom step where it meets the wall, ensuring a smooth and aesthetically pleasing transition.
