Install New Self-Adhesive Carpet Stair Treads — The 'Clean, Peel, and Stick' Moment
Part of project
Stair Tread Installation · Step 4 of 6
In this video
Begin by peeling off the clear protective film from the self-adhesive backing of a new light-colored, textured carpet stair tread. Carefully position the tread onto a clean wooden stair, aligning its back edge precisely with the riser. Use a long strip of green painter's tape, applied vertically along the wall side of the stairs, as a guide to ensure consistent placement and a straight line. Once positioned, press down firmly across the entire surface of the tread, working from back to front, to ensure good adhesion and minimize air bubbles. Repeat this process for all remaining stairs, working your way down the staircase.
