Step 2 · Step 2: Measure Tread Depth

For an accurate depth measurement, place your tape measure at the very front edge of the stair—what we call the 'bullnose'—and extend it straight back until it touches the vertical board, known as the 'riser'. This ensures your new tread will provide full, safe coverage for peace of mind.
