Winder Step Measurement · Step 1 of 5
In this video
Begin by determining the necessary number of winder steps and winder step extensions for your landing area. To do this, measure the depth of your landing area from the back wall to the front edge. To this measurement, add 30 millimeters (approximately 1.2 inches) to account for the nosing, which is the slightly projecting edge of the new winder step. The front portion of the landing area will be covered by the winder step itself, while any remaining deeper sections behind it will require winder step extensions. For instance, in the video, a 600mm (approx. 23.6 inches) winder step and two winder step extensions are used for the staircase shown.
