With the skirting boards removed, carefully measure the exact dimensions required for your winder step and winder step extensions. Place the winder step and extension pieces onto the landing area and mark any areas that need to be cut to achieve a precise fit, especially around corners or existing newel posts. The video shows using a measuring tape to determine the length needed and marking the pieces with a pencil. Make sure to test-fit each piece multiple times, adjusting cuts as needed, to ensure a snug and accurate placement around any obstacles, such as the newel post or wall edges, before proceeding to permanent installation.
