Step 5 · Step 5: Calculate the Total Run

Measure the total horizontal distance, or 'run,' of the turning section. Place your tape measure against the nosing of the very first turning tread and extend it horizontally to the back of the very last turning tread in the sequence. This gives us the complete footprint of the turn. Record this measurement carefully.
