Once the third coat has dried, lightly sand the surface again, this time with a finer 600-grit sandpaper to achieve a very smooth feel. After sanding, apply the final coat of finish, making it as thin as possible while still ensuring the entire surface is evenly wet. This super-thin coat dries quickly, which is beneficial for minimizing dust particles settling on the surface in a dusty environment. As an optional step for an even smoother result, perform a final buffing with a brown paper bag, which is roughly equivalent to 1500-grit sandpaper.
