Prepare the oil-based polyurethane by thoroughly stirring it. It is crucial *not to shake* the can, as shaking can introduce air bubbles that will create an uneven finish. Stir slowly and thoroughly to mix the satin pigment with the clear honey gloss, creating a creamy, consistent mixture. Once stirred, apply the first coat of polyurethane using a 10-inch wide synthetic roller on an extension pole. Apply the polyurethane in sections approximately two planks wide, then go back over the previous section halfway to ensure smooth blending and catch any potential drips. Maintain a consistent technique to avoid harsh lines, as the polyurethane is self-leveling. It's helpful to remove baseboards before this step for easier application near walls.
